The counter financing of Hezbollah Congressional Acts

The US Congress has historically and recently introduced several acts to curb Hezbollah's financial, military, and political influence, including the new PAGER Act (2025), which proposes cutting aid to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) unless Lebanon restricts Hezbollah, and the "No Hezbollah In Our Hemisphere Act" (2025) targeting Latin American operations.

Key Legislative Actions Targeting Hezbollah:

Preventing Armed Groups from Engaging in Radicalism (PAGER) Act (2025): Introduced by Rep. Greg Steube, this bill mandates that the US suspends aid to the Lebanese Armed Forces unless the Lebanese government cuts all ties with Hezbollah, ends recognition of the group, and ensures no members are in ministry positions.

No Hezbollah In Our Hemisphere Act (2025): This act demands that allies in Latin America designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization and works to penalize governments supporting the group.

Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Act (2015/2018): These laws place severe sanctions on institutions that finance Hezbollah, effectively separating them from the international banking system.

Countering Hizballah in Lebanon's Military Act (2019/2021): These bills sought to cap, limit, or audit funding for the Lebanese Armed Forces, requiring certification that the LAF has not partnered with Hezbollah.
